This Sipoo forest and farm field R-A-C-E loop is a classic fast route created by the Master of Sipoo Gravel Mr Luis Fraile. It is the same as the 2020 route when many of us tried to make a KOM/QOM over it as a SOLO TT ride (April 5 - 19, 2020). Only few did it less than two hours which was the "great divider". Best time during the competition was 1h 43 mins (Joonas Henttala) and 2h 3 mins (Lotta Henttala). After April 2020 there has been even better times ridden!
A nice (half) day ride with start and finish at the Breakaway CC Kalasatama Gravel Hub. The route goes straight to the east through urban areas and uses as much parks and gravel roads as possible. Then we hit the speedy gravel roads in and around amazing Sipoonkorpi and ride to the north point of the route. From Sipoo the route takes you down to the heart of Vantaa which we again smoothly cross via parks and end up to the banks of the river Vantaa. We follow the river on our way back to the Breakaway CC.
For this trip you should have a proper touring / gravel bike in good shape, good condition tires, small toolset, spare tire and water bottle with you. There are stop-by coffees and groceries along the way in case you run out of energy. Having a lock with you is useful. Of course, as always, ride with a helmet! We have brand new helmets for rental in case you need one. Enjoy the ride!
The 80km Adventure Challenge route starts at Backby Kartano (Bodomjärvi) and takes you through Nuuksio National Park and beyond. It combines the classic Nuuksio gravel roads and most likely some new paths for you as well! We re not in the Alps but come prepared for the rolling hills as they may surprise you. There are a couple of great pit stop coffee places on the route at Salmi and Pirttimäki. Please check in advance if they are open from their webpage/FB.
For this trip you should have a proper touring / gravel bike in good shape, good condition tires, small toolset, spare tire and water bottle with you. There are stop-by coffees and groceries along the way so in case you run out of energy it is good to stop&continue. There might be horse riders on the route - slow down a bit, be polite and talk to those horses - it will relax them and you both can carry on safely. Remember to wear your helmet. You might also want to take a lock with you. Enjoy the ride!
